John M. Reagle
John was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1991 and to the South
Carolina Bar in 1997. While in law school, he was a legal intern to
North Carolina’s Chief Justice, The Honorable James G. Exum, Jr.
Prior to joining Childs & Halligan in 1997, John practiced in North
Carolina in the areas of employment law, mental health law, commercial
litigation and contracts, and complex civil litigation, in state and
federal trial and appellate courts.

John’s work emphasizes complex litigation, special education, appellate
practice, and federal regulation, especially Titles I, VI, VII, IX, and
other civil rights statutes.
Specifically, John has been involved in a great deal of appellate work.
He has been involved in litigation before the S.C. Supreme Court on
charter school, student discipline, school finance, and constitutional
law cases and litigation, and before the federal courts on special
education, civil rights, and constitutional matters. He also provides
special education, Section 504, and Title IX administrators with legal
advice on matters before they become administrative claims.

John is a former member of the Columbia City Council's Citizen Advisory
Committee. His wife is a professor in the English Department at the
University of South Carolina. They have three children who attend school
in Richland County School District One. John formerly served on the
School Improvement Council at Brockman Elementary Montessori School.
